Why have your system inspected and swept? We had 4 houses that I'm aware of in the Cashiers area this year that burned due to chimney related fires. At least 1 burned to the ground. A thorough inspection of your chimney can spot potential hazards and sweeping will remove the dangerous creosote. If you have odors coming from your chimney, sweeping and deodorizing can help. So, call Tom for an appointment today.
Ever thought about your dryer vent? There are 16,700 dryer vent fires a year. Most people don't know their dryer vents need to be cleaned. The dryer vent duct is where the flammable lent can build up and get clogged. If your dryer isn't drying your clothes like it used to, you may not need a new dryer! A dryer vent clogged with lint reduces airflow so your dryer doesn't dry as efficiently as it can. An inefficient dryer also uses more energy, thereby costing you more money.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, reports that some 23,600 residential fires in the 50 states were related to solid fuel appliances and equipment in 1996. An additional 5,500 fires were attributed to chimneys and chimney connectors serving heating systems burning liquid and other fuels. As a result of these fires, 130 people died, 230 people were injured, and total property losses were set at more than $184.4 million. In addition there were a minimum of 119 deaths from carbon monoxide and at least 4,700 "injuries" reported for the same time frame, though most estimates range much higher.
Homeowners are by far our largest customer base and account for the majority of our business. Regular inspections and cleanings by homeowners interested in maintaining the safety of their homes have their chimneys inspected and cleaned at a minimum of every other year, although annual cleaning and inspections are recommended.
Realtors representing buyers use our services to protect their clients from any unforeseen repair costs that may arise after a real estate transaction closes. Home inspectors are neither qualified nor licensed to inspect or repair fireplaces or chimneys, only a certified chimney sweep is trained to inspect, clean and repair a fireplace. It is always in the realtor’s best interest to request an inspection of a fireplace so that any repairs can be made by the seller before escrow closes because afterwards it is the new homeowner that may be faced with thousands of dollars of repairs.
Every appointment is important to us. To ensure punctuality, we limit our service area to the cities and unincorporated areas listed below:
